Library Rocks! Summer Reading Program Coming to a Close

The end of the Library Rocks! Summer Reading Program is coming to a close this week and that means it’s time to party at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon.

The adults will celebrate with a “Rock-n-Roll Picnic” with the cooking club on Wednesday, July 11, noon to 2:00 p.m., in the Sugar Street parking lot. Bring your favorite picnic side dish or dessert with the recipe to share. Music will be provided by local artists, so take your lawn chair with you and enjoy free food and fun.

On Thursday, July 12, it’s the Children’s Library Rocks! Summer Reading “Party in the Parking Lot from 10:00 a.m. to noon in the parking lot behind the main library. Families are welcome to attend. Children who have completed their reading list need to pick up their free book downstairs in the multipurpose room before heading outside to enjoy carnival games, temporary tattoos, a rock star photo booth, make your own instrument and balloon animals with Rex Naylor.

All programs are free and open to the public. The Friends of the Library co-sponsored the summer reading programs at all four library locations.
