Mount Vernon, OH.  Wednesday, June 27, 2018 – They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky,  they’re all together ooky and they are coming to the Memorial Theater July 6-15.  MTVarts and First-Knox National Bank are proud to present The Addams Family, a New Musical.

From the writers of the award-winning hit musical Jersey Boys with music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Andrew Lippa, The Addams Family follows the family in this wildly original and hilarious musical about the ultimate “Princess of Darkness” Wednesday (Eryn Emery Hollobaugh) Addams as she falls in love with Lucas, a “normal” young man (Sean Felder) and begs her father, Gomez (Ian Fraser Ernsberger) to keep it a secret from her mother Morticia (Kelly Yerxa Lauth). Two completely different worlds collide when Mal (Aaron Moreland) and Alice (Kate Ernsberger) Beineke travel from Cleveland to meet the family and share “One Normal Night.”

Director Bruce Jacklin shares, “this show is a campy, fun-loving musical that draws us into a family of ‘unique’ characters that we all know and love from the cartoons, TV series, or movies. By peeling away their macabre exterior we expose their struggles that would make them seem like any normal family.”

Wednesday is not a little girl anymore, and she is starting to find her own place, but still wants her parents’ approval. Pugsley (Joey Ferguson) is learning that he may lose someone he thought would always be by his side.  Uncle Fester (Buck Thompson) recruits Grandma (Susan Moreland) to help bring them all together and discover that love will always triumph. Lurch (Matt Starr) stoically observes and reminds us that we must move toward the darkness because when we face our nightmares, then we’ll know what’s real.”

Susan S. B. Brown and Jessica Smarrella have created a remarkable array of costumes for the Addams Family ancestors. Makeup by Kerri Mahan and wigs by Ruth Frady helps complete each unique ghostly character.  Kennedy Aikey, Daniel Barich, Joselyn Bates, Fredi Bockover, Kyle Boucher, Alex Diehl, Hannah Chelle Frye, Mary Harris, Annika Kanuckel – Wolfe, Anthony Koch, Jay Mahan, Kerri Mahan, Mark Mahan, Abigail Miller, Ben Moore, Luna Moreland, Elle Pavao, Jared Pierce, Caroline Pletcher, Andrew Ruckman, Tyler Scowden, and Laura Webster make up the Addams Family clan. Even Cousin Itt (Lily Reinscheld) pops in for a visit.

MTVarts will present 6 shows over 2 weekends at the Knox County Memorial Building Theater, 112 East High Street. The Addams Family will appeal both to parents and children and, thanks to a team of dedicated and talented volunteers, assures quality, live theatre at an affordable price of just $18.  Tickets may be purchased online at MTVarts.com, at First-Knox National Bank Main Office on the square in Mount Vernon or at the door one hour prior to curtain.   Invite your friends and family for a nostalgic look back at a new Addams Family story, a hilarious and warm musical about first love, family, and the pains of growing up.
