Five Barn Owl Young Found

Jack and Tom Henry, former ODNR Division of Wildlife personnel checked the barn owl box they installed at Honey Run Highlands. They found five barn owl young in the box that were just a tad too old to be banded. When the owlets reach a certain age (7-8 weeks) there is concern with premature fledging and since this is all about the owls and not people wanting to watch the process, it is just fine with us. Thanks to the diligence of the Henry brothers who check dozens of nest sites in Ohio, these birds are well on their way back from the brink of extinction.
