The Woodward Opera House is America’s oldest, authentic 19th Century theater still standing today. Records have established that the first performance dates back at least as far as December 8th-10th, 1851.
Two SAT (Save America’s Treasures) grants have been awarded to the restoration project of this theater, which has been progressing steadily, following the formation of the Woodward Development Corporation inn 1996.
We are lucky to have this piece of history in our town and encourage everyone to take a tour when it is open to the public.
