FCFD Awarded Training Grant from Ohio

The Fredericktown Community Fire District was recently chosen and approved to receive a training grant through the State Fire Marshals (SFM) Office. Grant money totaling $3967.00 was awarded to the FCFD which reimburses the district for the costs of firefighter education.

“We are grateful to the State Fire Marshal for awarding us this grant. This grant, along with the numerous others we have received is very beneficial towards helping our department remain fiscally sound,” said FCFD Scott Mast.

Money back from this state ran grant program covered the costs of classes, supplies, and textbooks for four firefighters with the FCFD to receive their initial training. Another firefighter who already had been serving with the district furthered his education to the Firefighter II level of certification.

“We continually seek our grant opportunities in an effort to increase the quality of tools, equipment, and training within our department. This equates to the FCFD being able to continue to provide quality services to our community while operating within our current financial budgeting,” said Chief Mast.

The grant from the SFM is available to departments with a population of 25,000 or less and has a limited number of courses that are covered. While limited in the courses covered, the grant is highly sought after by departments from around the State of Ohio to keep training new and existing firefighters.
