It’s all about a community that cares. As the adviser for the Danville High School National Honor Society, Cris Dorsey, said, “They love their community and this is about giving back to the community.

Checks for $677.25 each were given to Steve Grubaugh for his Relay For Life, Team Ally Grubaugh, in honor and remembrance of his daughter, Ally, and Renee Kaylor for the Josie Lynn Kaylor Scholarships in memory of her daughter Josie. These scholarships are awarded to a Danville female and male senior who exhibit a positive attitude.

In honor of Officer Thomas Cottrell, checks $470.50 each were given to Lisa Lyons on behalf of the Danville Police Department which will provide continuing support for the K-9 unit, and to Kim Manno on behalf of Central Ohio Technical College for the Officer Thomas W. Cottrell Jr. Award for Character Dedication to Public Service The NHS students organized several fundraisers throughout the year to earn the money for these funds.

Middle school students purchased tickets to be able to treat their teachers to a flying pie full of cool whip. Intensity ruled as the teachers narrowly defeated the seniors in the Staff versus Seniors Basketball game. Additional monies were raised through a 50/50 Raffle, serving a Pancake Breakfast with St Luke Catholic Church, and a car wash. Renee Kaylor expressed these words as she is, “Thankful for all their hard work. The whole family appreciates it.”
