Silver Screeners Free Classic Movie Matinee “Lust for Life”

The Silver Screeners Free Classic Movie Matinee will feature the 1956 classic MGM movie, “Lust for Life,” on Sunday, May 20, 2:00 p.m. at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon.

Directed by Vincent Minnelli and produced by John Houseman, “Lust for Life” is based on the life of artist Vincent Van Gogh as adapted from the 1934 novel written by Irving Stone. The film stars Kirk Douglas as Van Gogh, James Donald as his brother Theo, with Pamela Brown and Everett Sloane. Anthony Quinn won the Academy Award for supporting actor with his portrayal of artist Paul Gauguin. Douglas won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.
