The acclaimed film “Loving Vincent,” depicting the life and new mystery surrounding the death of artist Vincent Van Gogh will be featured at “Free Movie Night” on Wednesday, May 16, 6:30 p.m. at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon.
The unusual and beautiful movie was created by filming tens of thousands of individual glass frames painted by hundreds of oil painters in the style of Van Gogh. May is Mental Health Awareness month and this year’s theme is #CureStigma.
PLMVKC is proud to partner with Dodie Melvin, director at NAMI and Rhonda Gibson, co-director at The Main Place, to bring this special film. The movie takes another look at the ways Van Gogh, his family, friends, and doctor dealt with his mental illness until his death.
Informational materials will be available before and after the film.
In support, the Silver Screeners Movie Matinee will feature the classic film, “Lust for Life,” starring Kirk Douglas as Van Gogh, and Anthony Quinn, will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2:00 pm at the main library.
