Laughter is the Best Medicine Comedy Show May 11 at the Memorial Theater

Comedy Night with headliner Antsy McClain

They say laughter is the best medicine for curing what ails a person, and the scientists would agree. A hearty laugh can reduce stress, boost your immune system and enhance your mood. With this in mind, join friends and family on May 11th at 7 p.m. in the Knox County Memorial Building for a night of comedy featuring nationally known comedian Antsy McClain and his sidekick, Mary Miller.

Headliner Antsy McClain will bring his unique blend of music and “humor with heart” to the Memorial stage.  Original songs are combined with a hilarious slideshow that includes Antsy’s own life lessons, social commentary, and imaginary sponsors from his hometown trailer park of Pine View Heights. As a master storyteller with PBS, NPR, and TEDTalks under his belt, Antsy’s songs are both humorous and serious—just what the doctor ordered.

Opening the night will be comedian and Ohio native Mary Miller.  Her conversational wit and self-deprecating charm have made Mary a favorite at comedy clubs throughout the region. She has a way of “finding the funny” in just about everything. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.  They can also be purchased online at www.kch.org/laughter-best-medicine.

The Foundation for Knox Community Hospital is hosting the event, with proceeds going to a capital campaign to fund the hospital’s upcoming expansion commencing in July 2018.  For over thirty years, The Foundation has been raising funds (and awareness) to enhance patient care in Knox County.
