Free Showing of “Trail Magic”

The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, in conjunction with Mike Petee and Elixer will present a special Chautauqua to bring the true story of Grandma Gatewood, the first woman to walk the Appalachian Trail solo, with a free showing of the documentary film, “Trail Magic” on Thursday, September 28, 7:00 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel.

Betty Lou Higgins, artistic director for Eden Valley Enterprises will be on hand to answer questions about the making of the film. Mike will share his experience contributing music to the movie soundtrack.

Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and guest musician Joe Rollin Porter will provide music of the era as opener to the evening.

Support provided by the Ariel Foundation and the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel. The program is free and open to the public. As usual for Chautauqua programs, donations will be accepted.
