Academy Award Nominated Film “Lion” featured at Free Movie Night on Wednesday, July 12

The Academy Award nominated film “Lion” (PG-13) will be the free monthly movie feature on Wednesday, July 12, 6:30 p.m., at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon.

Nominated for six Academy Awards including best picture, “Lion” is based on the non-fiction book, “A Long Way Home,” by Saroo Brierley. The film stars Dev Patel, Rooney Mara, David Wenham and Nicole Kidman.

Five-year-old Saroo gets lost on a train which takes him thousands of miles across India, away from home and family. Saroo must learn to survive alone in Calcutta, before ultimately being adopted by an Australian couple. Twenty-five years later armed with only a handful of memories, his unwavering determination, and a revolutionary technology known as Google Earth, he sets out to find his lost family and finally return to his first home.
