“The Memory of Old Jack” by Wendell Berry Focus of Adult Book Discussion by Matt Price, Tues June 6, 6:30 pm

“The Memory of Old Jack” by Wendell Berry will be the focus of the Adult Book Discussion on Tuesday, June 6, 6:30 p.m. in the city council room at the Danville Public Library, 512 S. Market Street.

In a rural Kentucky river town, “Old Jack” Beechum, a retired farmer, sees his life again through the shades of one burnished day in September 1952.  Bringing the earthiness of America’s past to mind, the book conveys the truth and integrity of the land and the people who live from it. Through the eyes of one man can be seen the values Americans strive to recapture as we arrive at the next century.

Dr. Matt Price from Mount Vernon Nazarene University will lead the discussion. The program is free and open to all ages. Refreshments will be served. A copy of the book will be donated by the Friends of the Library as a door prize.
