1984 Featured at Danville Public Library Adult Book Discussion

With copies suddenly flying off bookstore shelves, the classic novel, “I984,” written by George Orwell, will be featured at the Danville Public Library Adult Book Discussion on Monday, March 6, 6:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s Community Center, 7 West Rambo Street, Danville.

Written in 1948, the novel was Orwell’s chilling prophecy about the future. And while “1984” has come and gone, his dystopian vision of a government that will do anything to control the narrative of its people is timelier than ever. Winston cant escape the fact that Big Brother is always watching. A startling and haunting vision of the world, “1984” is so powerful that it is completely convincing from start to finish. No one can deny the influence of this novel, its hold on the imaginations of multiple generations of readers, or the resiliency of its admonitions. And its legacy seems to only grow with the passage of time.

The program discussion leaders will be Rose Sebouhian and Sean Smith. The program is free and open to all. A copy of the book donated by the Friends of the Library, will be given away as a door prize.
