The Mount Vernon Water and Wastewater Commission met today and took action to recommend the following rate increases for the coming year. It is their recommendation to increase the Water rate by $1.26 per hundred cubic feet and the Wastewater rate by $1.45 per hundred cubic feet.
The current, combined, monthly amount for the minimum user is $32.53. The new rates will increase this amount to $43.36, a monthly increase of $10.83.
The effective date for the increase is expected to be April 1 and will be reflected on the billing date of July 1, 2017. At that time the City will also change from quarterly to monthly billing.
