Centerburg High School Drama Department to Present Charlotte’s Web

The Centerburg High School Drama Department will present Charlotte’s Web on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, February 26 at 2:30 p.m. in the Centerburg High School auditorium at 3782 Columbus Road.

Charlotte’s Web, a play written by Joseph Robinette, is adapted from the beloved children’s book by E.B. White.  All the enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; the Arable family; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be “a true friend.”

Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the “miracle” of her web in which she writes, “Some pig.” It’s the beginning of a victorious campaign, which ultimately ends with the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte.  This is a beautiful, knowing play about friendship that will give the audiences an evening of enchantment.

Farm animals include Emma Murral as Wilbur and Caitlyn Miconi as Charlotte, as well as Clint Jones, Hailey Long, Sophia Compton, Makenzie Fields, and Chloe Skillman.

The Zuckerman and Arable families include Savannah Glasscock as Fern, Alexis Smith, Alan Grove, Cody Lunder, Isabel Brooks, Cloe Merriman, and Mary Claire Morgan.

Chorus members include Cassy Losego, Cynthia Morris, ad Lula Burke, and the ensemble is comprised of Meghan Ozinga, Kristen Shattuck, Autumn Snyder, Olivia Kelly and Melissa Neidhardt.

Tickets for Charlotte’s Web are $5 for all.  Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the show, beginning a half hour prior to the show.  All tickets are general admission, and no passes or discounts will be accepted.

Charlotte’s Web is produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois.
