Court Orders Drug House Closure

The Knox County Prosecutor’s Office was successful in obtaining a temporary restraining order against the owner and occupants of 204 E. Sugar Street because of illegal drug activity.

In an order issued yesterday, Common Pleas Judge Richard Wetzel ordered the property to be secured. Mount Vernon Police officers and workers from the City Street Department worked overtime to board up the property.

During the duration of the temporary order, the Prosecutor’s Office will work with the owners to come up with a permanent solution to avoid drug activity at the house. Prosecutor Chip McConville noted that persons found on the property without a law enforcement escort will be subject to arrest for trespassing.
