Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County Grant Applications Available Online

MOUNT VERNON – Grant applications for non-profit organizations seeking financial assistance from the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County are now available online at www.mvkcfoundation.org. The submission deadline for the first of two major grant rounds in 2017 is January 15, with grant announcements expected in February 2017. The second major grant application deadline will be July 15, with awards being announced in August, according to Program Manager Lisa Behr.

The Major Grant Application applies to requests in excess of $5,000. Grants of lesser amounts may be sought using the abbreviated Small Grant Application. Small grant requests are considered six times annually by the Foundation’s distribution committee.

Prospective applicants are urged to review the Community Foundation’s revised Guidelines for Grant making before completing either application to learn about the Foundation’s mission, priorities for funding, criteria, grant acceptance requirements, and deadlines for submission.

The majority of the foundation’s major grant pool will be available for distribution during the February grant cycle, so organizations applying for funding of $50,000 or more are encouraged to apply in January. In 2016 the Community Foundation awarded more than $600,000 through its competitive grant process, supporting approximately 75 local charitable projects.

Both the major and small grant applications are available in a convenient PDF format under the “Grants and Scholarships” tab on the foundation website. Both forms can be completed on-screen and printed out for signature and submission to the foundation office. Applicants interested in grants of $2,000 or less for youth -focused projects should also consider applying for a Youth Philanthropy Initiative grant, using the YPI grant application available under the “Youth Philanthropy” tab on the website.
