MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — The Knox County Agricultural Museum is only $8,000 away from fully funding its endowment. The organization has received a grant from the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County that will match gifts totaling up to $4,000 in an effort to help achieve this goal.

Once fully funded, the endowment will produce dividends which the Museum volunteers hope to use for several future projects, some of which include new insulated garage doors on the main building, heat in the main building and library, shelves in the mail building, a forklift for moving heavy objects and displays, and getting the antique tractors in operational condition.chamber-of-commerce

“Our goal is to ensure that future generations have the opportunity to see and learn more about the items that our grandparents and great-grandparents used in daily life, whether in the kitchen or around the farm,” said volunteer Art Mizer. “We typically have more than 3,000 visitors during Knox County Fair week and more than 500 school children tour the Museum annually. We’re proud of the work we’ve done and this endowment will enable us to do even more.”

Gifts may be made in memory or in honor of an individual, family, or business. Donations of $75 or $150 will earn a half page or full-page recognition, respectively, in the “Golden Book,” on permanent display at the Museum. All donations are tax deductible.

Interested parties can mail donations to The Knox County Agricultural Museum, P.O. Box 171, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, or visit the Community Foundation website at www.mvkcfoundation.org and click on “Donate Now.”
